This project was one of the wildest and most chaotic things I’ve ever worked on. Together with my friend Sam Bajoghli, I created “Villa Heat – Matura Reise”, a parody-style video inspired by shows like Love Island and classic Trash TV. It’s basically an overproduced, dramatic reality show version of our Matura trip in June 2025 with our multimedia class from Die Graphische.
The idea was simple: take our week of sun, chaos, and questionable decisions, and turn it into something ridiculously entertaining. The execution, however, wasn’t that simple.
The Plan (Before It All Fell Apart)
Before we even packed our bags, we wrote a script to give the whole thing a story. We wanted it to look and feel like real trash TV, so shaky cameras, over-the-top zooms, awkward interviews, and all that fake drama that makes shows like Love Island so addictive.
But once we actually got there, our priorities quickly shifted from filming to… well, partying. Between the beach, drinks, and late nights, it became hard to keep up with the original plan. We managed to film a few interviews and some improvised scenes, but nowhere near enough to build a full story.

The Footage Problem
When I got back and opened the editing project, I immediately realized: we barely had anything. Most of the story we planned wasn’t filmed. So we decided to rely on our classmates to send in their videos and photos from the trip.
That turned out to be a terrible idea. Weeks passed, and nobody sent anything. After constant reminders and a few desperate messages in the class WhatsApp group, we finally got some clips, but most of it was random, blurry, or unusable. At that point, the only option left was to completely rethink the project.
I spent a long time in the edit trying to piece everything together into something that made sense. I reimagined the structure, leaned into the absurdity of it all, and made it fun rather than perfect. In the end, I turned the video into a self-aware parody of itself. Something that doesn’t take anything seriously and embraces the chaos.
It’s full of inside jokes, random moments, and drama that only our class would understand, but that’s exactly what makes it special. “Villa Heat” became less about making a polished video and more about capturing the energy of our trip, the memories, the laughter, and the feeling of being done with school together.
Looking Back
Even though it didn’t go as planned, I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s not a professional project, but it’s a personal one. It’s something our Matura Class of 2025 can look back on in a few years and immediately remember how that week felt.
And honestly, that’s what video is all about.
